Rebecca Herod talking to Ex Cathedra Movie.co.uk

How did you find out about Ex Cathedra?

I found out about the audition for “Ex Cathedra” from one of the various casting sites, can’t remember which one. I was drawn to the project firstly because of the story and secondly because the production team came across as really passionate about the project with a real enthusiasm to get it made!

What is your first memory of the Ex Cathedra set?

Our first read though above the pub and then going though my costume with Vicky and Hannah after their shopping spree. That was one of the first times when Alexis really started to come together visually for me which was really exciting.

Oh and the hair… how can I ever forget get the hair! I think me and Hannah will have nightmares for years about wax!  : )

Who did you get on with best out of the cast and crew?

Oh my goodness… favouritism!!  I enjoyed working with everyone in their own unique way.

What attracted you to the character of Alexis?

Alexis was great, great fun for me to play and on a personal note very freeing for me in some ways. For example she doesn’t care about what other people think of her in ways that I do and it was fun not giving a damn.

I was attracted to her complexity and depth which was immediately apparent from the first read of the script. With the help of Liam by the end of the shoot I was extremely connected to Alexis. Sometimes during this shoot it scared me for example times it felt too easy and I started to think “am I doing something wrong it should be harder than this to tap into Alexis, surely”. BUT I had done a lot of preparation work by myself and with Liam so that helped.

Me and Liam were also so often on the same page and if I was ever drifting he always pulled me back. His direction was always very helpful.  It was very cool that I was able to trust Liam with the character in the way I did. When a director writes a project as well as directs it can sometimes hinder and restrict you but on this occasion I think it really helped.

How do you think British audiences will receive the film?

I hope that they will love it. hehe
